bioinformatics and information science. BISC will support research by
providing support to informatic projects.
Request for BISC Support of Projects
A request form is currently in the process of being approved by the executive
committee.
Current Projects
- Enhancement of the bioinformatics iNquiry cluster and associated programs.
- Parallel processing of circadian phototaxis data using Mathematica.
WKU Collaborations
- Jacobshagen, S., Gaskill, C., Kessler, B., and Rinehart, C., Analysis
of circadian expression of phototaxis in Chlamydomonas.
- Rinehart, C. and Wu, D., Construction of a database and tools for the
structural analysis of protein.

sequences for a bacterial genome.
- Bell, K. and Philips, K., Molecular phylogeny of the bostrichoid
beetles
- Bell, K., Philips, K., and Lee, C.-F., Molecular phylogeny of the water
penny beetles
- Bruce Kessler traveled to Mississippi State University
on October 4th to meet with team members from MSU and the University
of Arizona on a joint computer security initiative, funded by a $1.3
million government appropriation through the Department of Defense, to
establish a computer testbed on Western's campus that can be used to
test the detection of hacker attacks. His role is in the analysis
of the data being collected to determine when the system is under attack.
External Collaborations
