Course Goals and Benefits: This class is all about learning biology. This is important no matter what your major. There are many reasons why this is true, but one very important reason is that ignorance can cost you money. This Bio 113 class attempts to focus on matters that are, and will be important in your everyday lives. The class is sort of divided into five sections. Each is followed by an Exam covering the material from that section.

The five sections are
Biochemistry
Genetics
Organismal Biology
Human Physiology
Special/Current topics

Bio 113 tries to make these topics interesting by continually referring to everyday examples pertinent to our discussions. Disease, Drug Development, Cancer, and even Stocks, Cereal boxes, and Insurance policies are all topics within this course.

A few words on Web-based learning: Hopefully, this web-site will make this course both accessible and fun. If you can think of any additions or changes to the site that would be of help to you please let me know. There are several sections of this class, make you know to which you belong.

Web Instructions: It is not that complicated, the pages are optimized for 800 X 600 resolution and any browser (e.g. Netscape) version 4.X or greater. Everything seems to work especially well with Internet Explorer. Attitude is very important in working with computers, and in life in general, keep smiling.

The plug-ins (below) allow you to "fully experience" the web site. Please let me know of any problems you may have with the web site or any computer stuff.
