Tentative exam schedule:  09/04,  09/30,  10/23, 11/20, Final is 8:00 am Dec 08.  Last date to withdraw with a 'W' is 13 October.

Grading:

60% of your grade is based upon lecture, 40% on lab. The way your overall grade is calculated is as follows:

(Lecture average X 0.6) + (lab average X 0.4).

The grading scale is:

90% + A

80% + B

70% + C

60% + D

less than 60% F

In lecture, you will have 5 exams, including the final. The 4 tests will cover all material up to that test and subsequent to the preceding test.  The tests are worth 100 points each.  Your lowest test will be dropped, except for the final.  YOU MUST TAKE THE FINAL.   This makes a total of 400 points for the semester in lecture.

Makeups: Makeup tests will not be given. If you miss a test, that will count as your lowest score, and I will drop that test.  You can only miss one test, otherwise you'll have a 0 as part of your average.  However, if you know ahead of time you MUST miss a test, you can take it a day EARLY.   DO NOT BE LATE FOR A TEST, OR YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE IT.

Cheating: Earns an automatic F for the course.

Attendance: Your grade is not based on attendance, but you will do poorly if you do not attend regularly.

Withdrawals and audits:

If you are doing poorly in the class and wish to withdraw, you must do this by 07 March. If you wish to audit the course, arrange for this by 17 Jan.  After this, NO AUDITS will be allowed.

Miscellany:

TURN OFF ALL CELL PHONES, PAGERS, ETC. BEFORE CLASS BEGINS!
