Adenylate Cyclase
There are a number of adenylate cyclases that share 40-60% identity and all function to form cAMP from ATP.
Early assays of adenylate cyclase ceased to work as more highly purified ATP was used. This led to the link to G-protein activation.

Organization and structure of adenylate cyclase.

Activation and inhibition of adenylyl cyclases is tissue specific for the different isoforms of the enzyme.

Integration of multiple pathways that alter the activity of adenylyl cyclase.
