Its aim is to examine the general principles by which human tissues are organized and to be able to identify the basic tissue types and describe their function. The laboratory will reinforce the lecture, and allow time to explore histology in more depth while giving the student the opportunity to microscopically explore all of the tissues of the body.

Three exams will be given in class during the course of the semester. The format will be multiple choice, short answer, and short essay. There will be a two hour final exam approximately 25% will be comprehensive. There will also be 2 exams in lab, a mid-term and a final. Lecture will be worth 60% of your final grade and laboratory 40% of your final grade.

   Grades are assigned based on a 10 point straight scale, i.e. 90-100 = A, 80-89 = B: etc.

The textbook is designed to enhance your understanding and provide additional information. Reading of the text is strongly recommended.

All students are expected to take each exam at the scheduled time. A make up exam due to illness will be given only if a note from a physician is provided. The student must contact the instructor in advance of the exam.  Grading disputes will be submitted in writing within 1 week of the return of the exam and must include a scientific explanation of why your answer is correct.

Note to Disabled Students: In compliance with university policy, students with disabilities who require accommodations (academic adjustments and/or auxiliary aids or services) for this course must contact the Office for Student Disability Services in DUC A-200 of the Student Success Center in Downing University Center. Please DO NOT request accommodations directly from the professor or instructor without a letter of accommodation from the Office for Student Disability Services.

Having Problems???

Remember:

There is a time in the life of every problem when it is big enough to see, yet small enough to solve. - Mike Leavitt

When a problem comes along, you must whip it.
Before the cream sits out too long, you must whip it.
