Some Facts and Figures

    There are 7 Colleges of Podiatric Medcine in the United States, all but the NYCPM are members of AACPM.  For the class entering in the fall of 2005, there were 696 applicants for 552 spots in podiatry schools or about 1.2 applicants per opening (79% acceptance).  Historically, acceptance rates to podiatry schools has been between 60 and 85%.  The number of applications to podiatry schools has been on the increase the last 3 years, with a 20% increase for the 2004 entering class and another 16% increase for 2005.

Applicants:
    95% hold a bachelor's degree, 43% major in biology, 20% in other physical sciences.
    38% identify themselves as minority students
    34% are female

Matriculants (Fall 2003):
    Average overall GPA:    3.2
    Science GPA:               3.0
    Average MCAT:
                        Verbal:    7.3
                        Physical Science:    6.8
                        Biological Science:    7.1

Income:  A survey conducted in 2001 found the average NET income of a Podiatrist to be $134,415.
