Ecology Class Smokies Trip-- Fall '98
Albert starting the day
with an
introduction to the Smokies,
and telling
about all the great places
we would visit....
...but couldn't because
the bridges were out.
This was our only view of
the Greenbrier watershed.
So on to Plan B-- the Albright
Grove Nature trail
and then....
a quick trip north
on the Blue Ridge Parkway to.... THE "CRAGGIES"

Perhaps he was looking at
the brilliant red fruits on the
mountain ash,Sorbus americana.
They really looked like this.....
...and made the hills turn
red!
