Retirement Status

- Retired Professor of Biology.

General Information

-I was born and raised in Michigan. I have four grown children and 7 grandchildren. My wife, Billie, and I have been married for over 47 years. My wife works part-time for the Warren County School System as a substitute teacher.

-In addition to university assignments for over 47 years, I also taught courses at biological stations for over 17 years (in Tennessee and Oklahoma), subjects including Freshwater Invertebrates, Stream Ecology and Limnology. I have also conducted field courses in Marine Biology for over 15 years in the Florida Keys and on San Salvador Island, The Bahamas, respectively, as well as in Australia in 1999 (Reef and Rainforest Ecology) as part of an International Studies Program at WKU.  I also served as Director of a Geology program in Australia for the same organization in 1998.  I was on a sabbatical as a guest professor at The University of Austral, Valdivia, Chile, The Institute of Zoology, in 1984 and 1985. Recently, I have had opportunities to teach ESL in the Bowling Green community.

-My research focused on aquatic stream invertebrates, especially crayfishes, isopods and immature insects. My professional labels were Stream Ecologist, Aquatic Invertebrate Ecologist and Taxonomist.

Future

-I am seeking new opportunities for employment at home or abroad in the area of Teaching English as a Second Language.  It would be especially rewarding if I could put my long-term experience in teaching/research in the Natural Sciences and education to work to facilitate the learning of scientific English whether in speaking, reading or writing skills, preferably to adults. However, teaching English in any venue would be of interest to me. Resume available for interested prospective employers.
