2009 Biology Summer Undergraduate Research Experience
- BSURE

WKU Biology is pleased to announce a Summer Research Program for Undergraduate Students.

The Biology Summer Undergraduate Research Experience program (BSURE) provides four awards ($500 each) to cover research expenses for faculty-supervised research projects.  In addition, there are two $3000 awards that may be used for student support (i.e. pay).  All interested students are encouraged to apply. Applications must be received by March 30, 2009 to receive full consideration.

Who may apply? Any WKU Biology undergraduate student in good standing may apply.

What kinds of research opportunities are available? Please review the Biology faculty web pages for areas of research. All research projects must be conducted under the supervision of a WKU Biology faculty member.

When does the program take place? Research will be conducted for 10 weeks (May 18-July 24, 2009). Students may use these funds to continue their current research projects during the summer research program.

Where will I do research? All projects must be conducted on WKU campuses or associated properties.

How to Apply:

  1. Talk to a WKU faculty member about summer research opportunities. All applicants must identify a faculty sponsor prior to submitting an application.
  2. Have a digital copy of your resume handy for uploading (with your name in the title). Please don't start the process until you have your resume handy. Example resume naming convention: Lastname_Firstname_cv.doc. (Smith_Bill_cv.doc)
  3. Then, and only then, complete and submit the Application Form (2009 deadline has passed) but here are some other Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunities in Biology (mostly outside KY).

If you have questions please contact: Dr. R. King, Chair, WKU Biology Summer Research Program.
